About Us

Cornerstone Christian Academy opened its doors in August of 1998, with 27 children in grades one through four at the Church of the Brethren on Dodge Boulevard. Cornerstone's second year saw a move to the church campus at 2150 E. Orange Grove Road as Catalina Foothills Church occupied its new facilities. Enrollment expanded to 54 students as grades kindergarten and five were added. Cornerstone's third year, 2000-2001, saw many changes. A new block of classrooms was added, and enrollment exploded to 132. Sixth grade was added and the first promotion ceremony for sixth graders was held in May, 2002.

Catalina Foothills Church committed to building nine classrooms in 2003, for school expansion to the east of the church. These rooms were occupied in the fall of 2005. Immediately the school board launched the Capstone Campaign, a project to complete the ultimate build-out of the school’s master plan. The final two buildings of this campaign, housing administration (building 1) and first grade (building 4), were occupied in the fall of 2006. In the fall of 2007 kindergarten classes moved from the church to the new facility.

As Cornerstone has grown, traditions and standards laid down in the early years have been strengthened and expanded. It is a credit to the leadership and vision of Catalina Foothills Church that a firm foundation has been set for many future years of educational ministry to the covenant families of Tucson, Arizona.

Pusch Ridge Christian Academy
In 1998, a group of families working through Catalina Foothills Church PCA came together to discuss their vision for a new Christian high school for the Tucson community. The school they envisioned would have curricula based on sound biblical principles and academic excellence. A complete compliment of academic offerings would be augmented by college and career counseling; varsity, junior varsity and interscholastic sports programs; an extensive fine arts program and social activities.

In November 1999, after much prayer regarding the future vision of their school, the board of Palo Verde Christian School asked the Catalina Foothills Church committee to consider acquiring their school. After significant prayer, it was decided that the vision for a new Christian school for Tucson could be transferred to the campus of Palo Verde Christian School.

Thanks to the foresight of the dedicated founders of Palo Verde Christian School, there are 48 acres of land, which is more than enough to realize the ultimate vision. The campus is beautifully situated at the base of the Catalina Mountains at Pusch Ridge, adjoining the Coronado National Forest. In February 2000, Catalina Foothills Church acquired the Palo Verde Christian School facility, established its first governing school board, and renamed the school, Pusch Ridge Christian Academy.

In just ten years, Pusch Ridge has grown 73% in student population. In order to accommodate our present student body and prepare for future anticipated growth, the school  embarked on its first public capital campaign to raise funds for a new classroom building, additional parking, the Student Fellowship Plaza and amphitheatre. This expansion allows the school to grow and provides gathering and performance space for a variety of student programs.

With God’s favor, Catalina Foothills Church’s leadership, a supportive board, and an enthusiastic faculty and administrative team, Pusch Ridge Christian Academy has poised itself to faithfully bless the covenant students in its care for generations to come.

Catalina Foothills Church Schools
In 2009, sister schools, Cornerstone Christian Academy and Pusch Ridge Christian Academy joined formally as a K through 12th grade school system under the leadership of two principals and one school board.  Our K-12th grade school system is an educational ministry of Catalina Foothills Church.
